Vehicle description
Jaguar MKIX (MK9) with just 3 owners from new and just 81,000 miles. This example left the production line on the 14th December 1960 and was supplied to Jaguar Dealer, Mann Egerton, Norwich. It would appear that the car may have been a demonstrator, because it was not actually registered until October 1961. A Mr D. B. Claxton acquired the car on the 11th October 1964 and kept it for 21 years to October 1985, when it passed to Mr R. G. Sharman, who appears to have retained it for another 37 years. The 81,000 recorded miles is believed to be genuine. It has been part of a large private collection for many years. This imposing piece of Jaguar history is presented in super solid, very original and honest condition. All gauges appear to be in working order, as are heater, wipers, lights and fuel tank transfer switches. The leather has creases and marks associated with the cars age, the headlining is excellent, sun roof is in perfect working order and the carpets are excellent. The motor car is equipped with a 16" "Superlight" wood rime steering wheel with polished alloy horn push. The glorious Imperial Maroon livery does have age related micro blisters in a few areas but this does not distract from the overall magnificence of this imposing motorcar. The chrome work is in superb original condition and the underside is extremely sound. This magnificent example is best described as being a very sound, eminently usable example of classic Jaguar motoring. The MK VII, MK VIIM, VIII and IX were the models which fully epitomised the "Grace, Space, Pace" promotion from the Jaguar factory. But the last of the line, 3.8 MK IX came with the ultimate specification. The 3.8 XK engine and power steering lifted the MK IX into another level. Introduced in 1958, the MK IX was externally identical to the MK VIII, but the new model featured a one piece windscreen, all round disc brakes, the 220bhp 3.8 XK engine and power steering. The MoT history of the car shows that it has covered very few miles since records were kept back in 2005 and has had no advisories for recent MOTs. The car comes with a JDHT Heritage Certificate, original owners manual, parts manual, workshop manual and MOT certificates dating back to 2007. Offered on behalf of a client.
