Vehicle description
First seen in 1961 the Jaguar MKX (MK10) shared much of its running gear, engine and suspension with the E-type, which was also launched in that year. Developed in the late 1950's the MKIX replacement shared the new unitary construction method with the MKI, MKII and S-type allowing William Lyons to produce lower, svelte designs with sweeping lines, which formed part of Jaguar styling right up to the X358. The basic design remained in production from 1961 to 1970 with the 3.8XK engine, initially and then the 4.2, both fed via triple 2" SU carburettors. Registered in March 1963, this Jaguar MKX was fully restored between 1991 and 1999. Upgrades in recent years include Coopercraft four-pot front brake calipers and a rebuilt power steering box. Offered complete with theV5C, owner's manual and service chart, a February 2014 issue of Jaguar World Monthly magazine, featuring the car, a JDHT Heritage Certificate, MoT certificates and a large stack of receipts dating back to the 1990s. The Opalescent Dark Green paintwork presents extremely well, while the sage green leather interior is nicely patinated. A really nice example with the uprated Coopercraft brakes, superb bodywork, lovely interior, strong mechanics and the original tool kit in the boot. Though a really fine specimen there is still a little room for improvement by a new owner. One of just 52 MKX/420G currently on UK roads.Power-assisted Steering (PAS); Tuning; Safety Belt Pretensioners
